Indebtedness Levels of Low-Income Microcredit Clients in Lebanon Project

This research project is conducted during the period of November 2014- April 2015. The project aims to provide empirical evidence to confirm or refute indications of clients’ cross- and over-indebtedness, to analyze its causes, and to formulate recommendations on how to address. The project is driven by SANAD Fund for MSME and CGAP and will be implemented by Microfinance Centre (MFC) and Sanabel.

Republican Decision for Issuing a Law to Regulate the Activity of Microfinance

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi issued a decree for issuing a law to regulate microfinance activities in Egypt. The law will be designed to ensure the welfare and interests of clients and to monitor the work of microfinance institutions (MFIs) and all parties providing financial services to the poor.

More than 350 attendees participated in Sanabel Conference 2014 in Dubai to discuss challenges and opportunities for growth of the microfinance industry in light of the difficult conditions and changes in the Arab countries and the world

Sanabel’s 10th annual conference was held under the theme “Microfinance at Crossroads; Current Developments and Future Prospects in the Arab States” from September 29th – 30th, 2014 in Intercontinental Hotel – Dubai Festival City. The conference was held under the patronage of Her Excellency Sheikha Lubna Bint Khaled Al Qasimi, Minister of Development and International Cooperation.
