Most of MFIs have obvious social mission however it is very rare to seek achieving this mission as part of targeted deliberate strategy. As is the case with financial objectives, MFIs are likely to be more successful in achieving social objectives if they could measure, monitor and manage progress achieved towards attaining such objectives. So it could be said that it requires measuring and managing social performance systematically as it is done routinely with MFIs financial performance.
Social performance management indicates the ongoing process of collecting information on customers, inducing change in products and the process of MFI to improve operations and achieve its social objectives.
