The Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Ranya Abdel-Baki as the new Executive Director of Sanabel.  This position has been vacant for the past five months during which Ranya was Acting Executive Director. 

The Board believes that during the interim period, Ranya was able to efficiently manage the network’s operations, demonstrating a high level of commitment and dedication in upholding the principles of learning, innovation, team-building, and membership satisfaction that are at the core of Sanabel’s objectives. This decision came as a unanimous vote of confidence on part of the Board of Directors.  We are confident in Ranya’s ability to build on past achievements and lead the network to its next level of development and growth.

Ranya Abdel-Baki brings on more than eight years of experience in banking and development.  She worked for four years as a corporate credit analyst and supervisor at National Societe Generale Bank, responsible for the preparation of credit dossiers for corporate conglomerates and syndicated loan transactions. Ranya also worked as an Urban Economist & Development Specialist at an environmental consultancy firm for one year during which she assumed a project management role that provided her with exposure to many state-driven and multilateral development projects taking place in Egypt.  Since 2007, Ranya has been working at Sanabel as a Transparency Manager and more recently as the Deputy Executive Director.  Ranya holds a BA in Economics from the American University in Cairo and a MSc in Urban Economic Development from University College London.
