Sanabel works on promoting an enabling environment for best practice microfinance through public awareness and advocacy for regulatory reform in the region.

Together, with its country affiliates, Sanabel conducted an extensive survey in end of 2002 and a mini survey in end of 2003, which was the third in a series of publications documenting the state of microfinance in the Arab region. The first two surveys were conducted in 1997 and 1999 by the World Bank. The results of the third survey were presented at Sanabel's annual conference and the written report was released by UNCDF in September 2004.
