Join Sanabel

Membership Criteria:

Membership in the network is limited to the founders and any MFI who applies for membership and fulfills the criteria in one of the three categories:

 

1. Full Member

Institutional Criteria

* Focus on lending to microentrepreneurs

* Located and operating in one or more Arab countries

* Minimum of 3 years of operations as an MFI

* Minimum of 5,000 active clients in countries with populations in excess of 8 million; a minimum of 3,000 active clients in all other countries with the exception of Lebanon and Palestine which should have a minimum of 2,000 active clients

* Working to achieve full operational and financial sustainability

* Committed to building transparency, evidenced by the annual submission of financial information to external auditors, the Microbanking Bulletin (MBB) and the Microfinance Information Exchange (MIX).

 

Network Relationship

*Committed to attend annual conference

*Committed to pay annual dues and the cost of services

*Committed to participate in General Assembly: 1) CEO or deputy represents institution, 2) voice and voting privileges

*Executive Committee members nominated/elected from this pool

 

2. Affiliate Member

Institutional Criteria

*Focus on providing financial services to microentrepreneurs or be a national microfinance network

*Located and operating in one or more Arab countries

*Working to achieve full operational and financial sustainability

*Committed to building transperancy, evidenced by the annual submission of financial information to external auditors, the Microbanking Bulletin (MBB) and the Microfinance Information Exchange (MIX).

 

Network Relationship

*Committed to attend annual conference

*Committed to pay annual dues and the cost of services

*Committed to participate in General Assembly: 1) CEO or deputy participates o voice privileges, 2)no vote

 

3. Friends of Sanabel

 

Institutional Criteria

*Individuals, banks, donors, technical assistance providers, trainers and  non-MFI  NGOs committed  to the development of best practice microfinance Arab countries

*Actively participating in the microfinance sector in Arab countries

 

Network Relationship

*Committed to attend annual conference

*Committed to pay annual dues and the cost of services

*Right to attend General Assembly meetings (no voting)

 

Membership Fees: Sanabel annual fees are $650 for full members and $500 for affiliate members and friends of Sanabel fees are $1000 for individuals and $2000 for banks and organizations.

 

Any MFI in the region which fulfills the membership criteria can apply for the network membership by filling the application form.
