In its continued efforts to promote and increase the transparency of microfinance institutions in the Arab region, Sanabel has recently renewed its Partnership Agreement with the Microfinance Information eXchange, Inc. – The MIX (www.themix.org) for the year 2007. 

Sanabel held with CGAP an Information System Training of Trainers course, in Aleppo, Syria from 22 to 28 February 2007. The course was held at Mirage Hotel in coordination with the UNDP Rural Community Development Program at Jabal El Hoss.

 A new decree was issued on Feb 15, 2007 regulating the licensing of small and microfinance inistitutions in Syria.  According to the decree the monetory authority can license Syrian, Arab, and Foriegn inititutions.
