Miguel Llenas is
president and international consultant
of CBMM, Inc. in the Dominican Republic.
He has more than 25 years of experience
in banking, marketing, microfinance,
credit bureaus and other financial
services in the Dominican Republic and
other countries in Latin America, with
substantial experience implementing
credit bureau solutions and microfinance
services for developing country
projects.
Llenas worked for five
years as the business vice president of
Datacrédito, the leading credit bureau
in the Dominican Republic. In four
years, he led the company to more than
4,000 subscribers/members, which
included all commercial banks, financial
institutions, microfinance institutions,
insurance companies, as well as more
than 3,000 commercial institutions. The
company grew to become the leading
credit bureau in the country generating
more than 500,000 monthly reports.
During his time at
Datacrédito, Llenas launched a credit
bureau in Honduras. This credit bureau
specializes in working with microfinance
institutions. The bureau has developed a
credit scoring system and other
performance tools, like CAMEL or CGAP
Financial Indicators. These are managed
through the Web and the Credit Bureau
platform. It is the only credit bureau
in the world that provides these tools.
During a 12-month USAID
contract, Llenas provided technical
assistance to the "Bank Superintendency
of Ecuador" to develop and launch the
first credit bureau in Ecuador. In this
assignment, Llenas managed the legal,
technical and commercial aspects of
launching this credit bureau. In
Ecuador, more than 200 microfinance
institution are supporting this project. |
